Terms & Privacy Policy

Last updated: 15 October 2026

These terms apply to 1:1 work with me, Emma Thompson, trading as Emma Thompson Therapy (The Sales Therapist). They also cover digital products bought from this website. Workshops, keynotes and Kick-Off Club sessions for organisations are covered by a separate written agreement.

1. Discovery call

Before we work together, we have a free 30-minute discovery call online. It is not a therapy session. It is a chance to talk about what's going on, explain how the programme works, and decide together whether it's the right fit. Neither of us is under any obligation after the call.

2. How sessions are delivered

Sessions take place online, via Google Meet. In-person sessions may be available on request, by arrangement. You'll receive your session links and details by email once your booking is confirmed.

Hypnotherapy is offered as part of the Find the Thought™ Programme only.

3. Fees & payment

Your fee and payment schedule will be confirmed to you in writing before you start. Payment is by bank transfer or Stripe.

A minimum of 50% of the programme fee is payable before your first session. The balance can be paid:

  • in full at the start, or

  • in one payment 30 days after your first session, or

  • in two equal payments, 30 days and 90 days after your first session.

Each instalment must be received by its due date. If a payment is late, I may pause sessions until it is received.

My fees are reviewed from time to time. Any change will never affect a programme you have already agreed to and started.

4. Your right to cancel (cooling-off period)

Because you book online, you have the right to cancel within 14 days of agreeing to work with me, without giving a reason, and receive a full refund.

If you ask to start sessions within those 14 days and then cancel within that period, I will refund what you've paid, minus a proportionate amount for the sessions and work already delivered.

5. Rescheduling & missed sessions

If you need to move a session, please give at least 48 hours' notice by email or phone, and we'll find a new time.

Sessions cancelled with less than 48 hours' notice, or missed without notice, count as delivered. I'll always use discretion in genuine emergencies.

If you are running late, please let me know. Your session will still end at the scheduled time. If you are more than 15 minutes late without contacting me, the session may count as missed.

If I need to cancel or move a session, I will give you as much notice as possible and offer a new time at no cost to you.

6. Stopping the programme early & refunds

When you start the programme, I reserve my time and plan the work for the full four months. For that reason, payments already made are non-refundable once the cooling-off period (section 4) has ended.

If you decide to stop the programme early, please let me know in writing. Any instalments that are not yet due at that point will be cancelled, and you won't be asked to pay them.

If you paid in full at the start and stop early, any refund is at my discretion.

Fees pay for my time and professional expertise. They are not a guarantee of a particular outcome, so refunds are not given on the basis of results.

7. Outcomes

I'll always bring my best skills and effort to helping you reach your goals. Everyone's experience is different, and no specific outcome — personal, professional or financial — can be guaranteed.

8. Health, suitability & age

I work with adults only. You must be 18 or over to work with me.

I'm not a medical professional, and this work is not a substitute for medical or psychiatric care. I'll ask about your health before we start, to check the work is suitable for you. Please tell me about any relevant medical or psychological conditions, or medication, before your first session, and let me know if anything changes.

If you are currently receiving treatment from a GP, psychiatrist, psychologist or counsellor, I may ask you to check with them before we begin. I am unable to offer hypnotherapy to anyone with epilepsy or any form of psychosis.

9. Audio recordings

Any audio I create for you is for your personal use only and must not be shared, copied or sold. Never listen to hypnotherapy audio while driving, operating machinery or doing anything that needs your full attention.

10. Contact between sessions

You can contact me by email, phone or text. I reply during working hours (9am–6pm, Monday to Friday). I don't offer a crisis service — if you are in crisis, please contact your GP, call NHS 111, or call Samaritans on 116 123.

11. Standards of behaviour

I will always treat you with respect. In return, I ask that you don't attend sessions under the influence of alcohol or recreational drugs (prescribed medication is fine), and that you treat me with respect. I may end a session, or our work together, if this isn't followed. In that case, section 6 applies.

12. Confidentiality

Everything we discuss is confidential. I do not record our sessions. I keep brief handwritten notes, stored securely (see Privacy below).

I will only break confidentiality:

  • with your permission

  • if required by law or a court order

  • if I believe there is a serious risk of harm to you or someone else

  • where I am legally required to report something, such as a safeguarding concern involving a child, or a serious crime

Where I can, I will talk to you first. I discuss my work in clinical supervision, using first names only, so you cannot be identified.

13. Digital products

When you buy a digital audio product, such as The Sales Performance Reset, you are asking for immediate access. By completing your purchase, you agree to the download being made available straight away and acknowledge that you lose your 14-day right to cancel once the download link has been sent. Download links expire 24 hours after first use, so please save your files when you receive them. If a file is faulty or won't download, contact me and I will replace it or refund you. Audio products are for your personal use only and may not be shared, copied, resold or distributed.

14. Liability

I'm not liable for any indirect or consequential loss, such as loss of income, profit or business opportunity, arising from our work together. My total liability to you is limited to the fees you have paid me.

Nothing in these terms limits or excludes liability that cannot be limited by law, including for death or personal injury caused by negligence, or your statutory rights as a consumer.

15. Concerns & complaints

If you have a concern about our work together, please raise it with me directly first. I'll take it seriously and do my best to resolve it quickly and fairly.

16. Changes to these terms

I may update these terms from time to time. The version in place when you start a programme applies to that programme.

17. Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of England and Wales, and disputes will be dealt with by the courts of England and Wales.

Privacy Policy

Who I am

Emma Thompson, trading as Emma Thompson Therapy, is the data controller for the personal information described here. I am registered with the Information Commissioner's Office (ICO). You can contact me about your data at emma@emmathompsontherapy.com.

What I collect and why

  • Contact details (name, email, phone): to arrange and run our sessions, and to reply to enquiries.

  • Booking answers: what you share when you book a discovery call, so I can prepare and check the work is a good fit.

  • Health and background information: what you share about your health and history, to check suitability and to tailor the work. This is "special category" data, and I only collect it with your explicit consent.

  • Session notes: brief handwritten notes, to support continuity between sessions.

  • Emergency contact (optional): only used if I believe you are at serious risk. I'll tell you if I ever need to use it.

  • Payment and order details: to take payment and deliver what you've bought. I never see or store full card details.

  • Organisation contacts: name, role and work email of people who enquire about team sessions or speaking, to respond and deliver the work.

Legal basis

I use your information to carry out our agreement (contract), to meet legal and insurance obligations (legal obligation), and for running my practice in ways you'd reasonably expect (legitimate interests). Health information is processed only with your explicit consent, which you can withdraw at any time. If you withdraw it, I may not be able to continue working with you.

Who I share it with

I never sell your data or use it for marketing without your consent. I use a small number of trusted services to run my practice, which store or process data on my behalf:

  • Google Workspace (email, video sessions, documents and forms)

  • Calendly (bookings)

  • Stripe (payments)

  • Squarespace (this website, enquiry forms and digital product delivery)

  • my secure online client portal, used during the programme

Some of these providers may process data outside the UK. Where they do, they use legally approved safeguards. Otherwise, I'll only share your information as described under Confidentiality above.

How I store it

Handwritten session notes are kept in a locked cabinet. Digital information is kept in password-protected accounts. Only I have access to your information.

How long I keep it

I keep client records, including session notes, for the period my professional insurer requires after our work ends. I then securely destroy paper records and delete digital ones. Enquiries that don't lead to working together are deleted within 12 months.

Your rights

You have the right to ask for a copy of your data, to have it corrected or deleted, to restrict or object to how it's used, and to withdraw consent at any time. To make a request, email me at the address above. I'll respond within one month.

If you're unhappy with how I've handled your data, you can complain to the ICO at ico.org.uk or on 0303 123 1113. I'd appreciate the chance to put things right first.
